what's cooking?

both mike and i like to to cook (unfortunately, neither of us likes to clean!). we share the meal prep so that both of us will continue to like cooking and surprisingly i've found that my husband is a better cook than i am.  not only is he better at it, but he often chooses recipes that i would've simply glanced over and  never chosen.  he's definitely broadened my horizons and introduced me to things that i always thought i didn't like. just like in so many other ways, i think in this we complement each other and balance each other out.  and now that i am trying to stay home more (and get my baby to actually sleep) we do our meal planning at the beginning of the week. this is new for us - i know that this will shock most of you but being organized at home is NOT my strong point so i guess we'll see how this meal planning goes (and if it continues)...... :)

so this is what we're cooking this week:
bbq rib-eye steak with cauliflower gratin (j.o. food revolution) and sauteed spinach
chicken korma (j.o. food revolution) and spelt flatbread (adapted from the weber's bbq cookbook - pizza dough)
rustic simmered chicken (donna hay's no time to cook)
sweet potato frittata with fresh salsa (gordon ramsay's healthy appetite)
lamb rogan josh (j.o. food revolution - IF i can find the right cut of lamb) otherwise leftover turkey chili or beef stew from the freezer (from last weeks cooking binge)

also: for community group this week i'm baking chocolate chip cookies (the BEST recipe is on the back of the milk chocolate chips package), sugar cookies (in the shape of dollar signs since our discussion is about money, Anneliese's recipe on mennonitegirlscancook.blogspot.com) and apple streusal cheesecake squares (bettycrocker.com)

as always, if you want any recipes, email me or leave a comment!

  1. OK...a list of food doesn't tell me if I would like the recipe because it all sounds amazing. I am a "pictures and process" kind of gal....some help with this please! Or a taste perhaps.....?
